Our Principal’s Message
It is an honour for me to be launching our school’s website as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary this year. In 1976, Ste Madeleine Junior Secondary school shared the premises with Williamsville Junior secondary school, and later converted to a five-year school in 1997.
In the twenty first century students need an education that is both academically rigorous and ‘real world’ relevant. The objective of rigour and relevance is not just for some students, it is for all students. As stated by Dr William Daggett.
Here at Ste Madeleine Secondary school, we strive to educate our students who will be able to contribute to the society in a meaningful way. We offer a wide curriculum in the core subjects and recently expanded our curriculum to offer Caribbean Vocational subjects such as General Construction, Data Operations, Carpentry and Clothing and Textile, In addition, students have the opportunity to take part in various sports namely cricket, football, netball, swimming and hockey.
This year Miguel Ward placed first in Trinidad in Mechanical Engineering Technician and third overall in the Caribbean. Our most recent success was qualifying for the finals in the School’s Dance competition.
Our focus on integrating technology in the classroom includes e-learning and team teaching using Moxtra. We are proud to be one of the Samsung Smart schools and we recently completed our database of staff and students and continue to find ways of utilizing the technology to improve the school’s functioning.
I believe that a school which caters to the needs of its charges can change the world.
I am indeed proud to be leading an institution where students have shown such remarkable progress and who aspire to continue improving themselves.
I can assure you that with our dedicated teaching staff and our commitment to serving our students, you will be hearing more good news from this school.
